Overview
It has become increasingly noticeable that many boards, executive
committees and even individual managers are asking, begging or
pondering some burning questions regarding their IT (Information
Technology) such as:
●
What value
is IT actually bringing to the Business?
●
Is IT
adequately supporting the Business?
●
How
Robust/Secure is the IT Infrastructure, Applications etc?
●
What Risks
are there in IT?
●
Is IT
effective in supporting the Business to achieve competitive
advantage?
●
Is IT
abiding by relevant regulatory frameworks?
●
How can IT
add value to the growth of the Business? Etc.
Perhaps all these questions are inferring and overall question of:
●
“How is IT
governed in our organization?”
This must surely pose a challenge to those entrusted with the
responsibility of IT in the Business – How do they respond to this
challenge?
It has been advocated for quite some time now that the above
challenge is addressed through proper disciplines, viz. IT
Governance, IT Risk Management and IT Compliance. Lately, these
three disciplines, through commonality and interrelationships, have
been grouped together and referred to as IT Governance, Risk and
Compliance (IT GRC)”.
It is pleasing to see that some organizations are embarking or
planning to implement IT Governance whilst many companies
increasingly are striving to understand this discipline and how it
may be implemented in their organizations to better address the
business imperatives, increased regulatory pressure and customer
demands etc.
This workshop is constructed mainly around the Control Objectives
for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) framework and is
supported by other relevant sources and standards to provide a
holistic view of the structured IT Governance, IT Risk and
